Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (War3 or WC3) is a real-time strategy computer game released by Blizzard Entertainment in July 2002. It is the second sequel to Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, and it is the third game set in the Warcraft Universe. An expansion pack, The Frozen Throne, was released in 2003.

The game proved to be one of the most anticipated and popular computer game releases ever, with 4.5 million units preordered and over one million additional units sold within a month. Warcraft III won many awards including “Game of the Year” from more than six different publications.

Warcraft III contains four playable races:Humans and Orcs, which had previously appeared in Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, and the Night Elves and Undead, which are new to the Warcraft mythos. Warcraft III’s campaign is laid out similarly to that of StarCraft, being told through all four of the game’s races in a progressive manner.

Sound

Most of the music within Warcraft III was composed by Tracy W. Bush, Derek Duke, Jason Hayes, and Glenn Stafford. The Limited Edition of Reign of Chaos came with much of the orchestral music on a separate soundtrack. Each of the four playable races has different music: monastic music for the humans; ambient and Native American-sounding music for the Night Elves; warlike African-sounding music for the Orcs; and fast, haunting music for the Undead. New musical themes were added in the expansion.

One of the signatures of Blizzard games are the unit quotes. If a single unit is clicked four or more times in a row, the unit’s voice samples become more and more comical. The unit may start getting angry at the player, or make allusions and references to other games, movies, or jokes. Movies quoted include Blade Runner, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and Toy Story.Games like Mortal Kombat, Warhammer 40,000, and Banjo-Kazooie are paid homage,in addition to shows such as Saturday Night Live, The Twilight Zone, and Beavis and Butthead.

Music of Final Fantasy XII

The music of the video game Final Fantasy XII was composed primarily by Hitoshi Sakimoto. Additional music was provided by Masaharu Iwata and Hayato Matsuo, who also orchestrated the opening and ending themes. Former regular series composer Nobuo Uematsu’s only work for this game was “Kiss Me Good-Bye”, the theme song sung by Angela Aki. The Final Fantasy XII Original Soundtrack was released on four Compact Discs in 2006 by Aniplex. A sampling of tracks from the soundtrack was released as an album entitled Selections from Final Fantasy XII Original Soundtrack, and was released in 2006 by Tofu Records. Additionally, a promotional digital album titled The Best of Final Fantasy XII was released on the Japanese localization of iTunes for download only in 2006. “Kiss Me Good-Bye” was released by Epic Records as a single in 2006, and Symphonic Poem “Hope”, a “mini-symphony” of songs inspired by Final Fantasy XII, was released by Tofu Records in 2006. A version of the song group was included in the official soundtrack album.

The soundtrack received mixed reviews from critics; while several felt that it was a good soundtrack but lacking in substance, others disagreed, finding it to be an excellent album, though not without a few faults. Common complaints about the album were the large number of “filler” tracks, which seemed to be uninspired and hurt the soundtrack as a whole. However, several reviewers commented on the town and battle themes, finding them to be some of the soundtrack’s strongest areas. The singles for the soundtrack were very well received by critics, who found them to be very enjoyable but short in duration.

Music of Final Fantasy X

The music of the video game Final Fantasy X was composed by regular series composer Nobuo Uematsu, along with Masashi Hamauzu and Junya Nakano. It was the first Final Fantasy game in which Uematsu was not the sole composer. The Final Fantasy X Original Soundtrack was released on four Compact Discs in 2001 by DigiCube, and was re-released in 2004 by Square Enix. Prior to the album’s North American release, a reduced version entitled Final Fantasy X Original Soundtrack was released on a single disk by Tokyopop in 2002. An EP entitled feel/Go dream: Yuna & Tidus containing additional singles not present in the game was released by DigiCube in 2001. Piano Collections Final Fantasy X, a collection of piano arrangements of the original soundtracks by Masashi Hamauzu and performed by Aki Kuroda, was released by DigiCube in 2002 and re-released by Square EA in 2004. A collection of vocal arrangements of songs from the game arranged by Katsumi Suyama along with radio drama tracks was released as Final Fantasy X Vocal Collection in 2002 by DigiCube.

The game’s soundtrack is best known for the song “Suteki da ne”, the theme song of the game, performed by Japanese folk singer Ritsuki Nakano, known as “RIKKI”, in Japanese for both the Japanese and English versions of the game. The song was released as a single by DigiCube in 2001 and was re-released by Square Enix in 2004. The music was well received overall; reviewers praised the additions to the soundtrack by the two new composers for the series. They especially praised Hamauzu, both for his work in the original soundtrack and in arranging the songs for Piano Collections Final Fantasy X. Several songs, especially “Suteki da ne” and “Zanarkand”, remain popular today, and have been performed numerous times in orchestral concert series, as well as been published in arranged and compilation albums by Square as well as outside groups.

  • 主題歌 「Melodies of Life」

Music of Final Fantasy IX

The music of the video game Final Fantasy IX was composed by regular series composer Nobuo Uematsu. It was his last exclusive Final Fantasy score. The Final Fantasy IX Original Soundtrack, a compilation of all music in the game, was originally released on four Compact Discs by DigiCube in 2000, and was re-released by Square Enix in 2004. A Best Of and arranged soundtrack album of musical tracks from the game entitled Final Fantasy IX: Uematsu’s Best Selection was released in 2000 by Tokyopop Soundtrax. Final Fantasy IX Original Soundtrack PLUS, an album of music from the game’s full motion videos and extra tracks, was released by DigiCube in 2000 and re-released in 2004, and a collection of piano arrangements of songs from the original soundtrack composed by Shiro Hamaguchi and performed by Louis Leerink was released as Piano Collections Final Fantasy IX in 2001.

The game’s soundtrack is best known for the song “Melodies of Life”, the theme song of the game, performed by Emiko Shiratori in Japanese and English. The song was released as a single by King Records in 2000. The soundtrack was based around a theme of medieval music, and was heavily inspired by previous Final Fantasy games, incorporating themes and motifs from earlier soundtracks. The music was overall well received; reviewers found the soundtrack to be both well done and enjoyable, though opinions were mixed as to the reliance on music of previous games. Several songs, especially “Melodies of Life” and “Vamo’ Alla Flamenco”, remain popular today, and have been performed numerous times in orchestral concert series, as well as been published in arranged and compilation albums by Square as well as outside groups.

Final Fantasy VIII (ファイナルファンタジーVIII Fainaru Fantajī Eito) is a 1999 console role-playing game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) for Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Windows-based personal computers as a part of the Final Fantasy series. The game’s story focuses on a group of young mercenaries who are drawn into an international conflict, and seek to protect the world from a sorceress manipulating the war for her own purposes.

Thirteen weeks after its release, Final Fantasy VIII had earned more than US$50 million in sales, making it the fastest selling Final Fantasy title. Additionally, Final Fantasy VIII was voted the 22nd-best game of all time by readers of the Japanese magazine Famitsu.

Final Fantasy VIII is a departure from many traditional standards of the Final Fantasy series. It is the first game in the series to consistently use realistically proportioned characters, the first to feature a vocal piece as its theme music, and one of the only titles to deviate from the series’ traditional means of increasing a character’s power. In addition, it does not have a Magic Point-based system for spellcasting.

The music of the video game Final Fantasy VIII was composed by regular series composer Nobuo Uematsu. The Final Fantasy VIII Original Soundtrack, a compilation of all music in the game, was released on four Compact Discs by DigiCube in Japan, and by Square EA in North America. A special orchestral arrangement of selected tracks from the game—arranged by Shiro Hamaguchi—was released under the title Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec Final Fantasy VIII, and a collection of piano arrangements—performed by Shinko Ogata—was released under the title Piano Collections Final Fantasy VIII.

The game’s soundtrack is best known for two songs: “Liberi Fatali,” a Latin choral piece that is played during the introduction to the game, and “Eyes on Me,” a pop song serving as the game’s theme, performed by Chinese singer Faye Wong. Reviewers were generally pleased with the music, although several cited issues while comparing the score to previous games or looking at individual tracks.

Final Fantasy VII (ファイナルファンタジーVII Fainaru Fantajī Sebun) is a console role-playing game developed and published by Square, and the seventh installment in the Final Fantasy series. It was released in 1997 and is the first numbered Final Fantasy game for Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Windows-based personal computers. It is the first installment to use 3D computer graphics, featuring fully rendered characters on pre-rendered backgrounds.[

The game’s story centers on a group of adventurers as they battle a powerful megacorporation called “Shinra”, which is draining the life of the planet to use as an energy source. As the story progresses, conflicts escalate and the world’s safety becomes the central concern.

A major critical and commercial success, the game remains arguably the most popular title in the series,[and is often credited with allowing console-style RPGs to achieve mainstream success outside Japan. The ongoing popularity of the title led Square Enix to produce a series of sequels and prequels under the collective title “Compilation of Final Fantasy VII“. As of September 2004, Final Fantasy VII has sold more than 9.5 million copies worldwide, earning it the position of the best-selling Final Fantasy title.

The music of Final Fantasy VII was written by Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu. It was initially released as a four CD soundtrack album and later expanded upon through orchestral and piano arrangements published on the Final Fantasy VII Reunion Tracks and Piano Collection Final Fantasy VII records, respectively. More music connected with the Final Fantasy VII storyline was created when Square Enix launched the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, an ongoing series of prequels and sequels to the original game. Uematsu’s involvement in these releases has been limited.

The game first appeared on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, then was ported by TOSE with minor differences to Sony’s PlayStation and Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance. It was first released in North America as “Final Fantasy III“, although the original title has been restored in later releases.

The game’s story focuses on a group of rebels as they seek to overthrow an imperial dictatorship. Final Fantasy VI was the first game in the series to be directed by someone other than producer and series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi; the role was filled instead by Yoshinori Kitase and Hiroyuki Itō.Released to critical acclaim, the game is regarded as a landmark of the series and of the role-playing genre.

Final Fantasy VI has more battle customization options than its predecessors and has the largest playable cast in the Final Fantasy series to date, excluding spin-off titles. It remains widely praised for its storyline and characters.

The music of the video game Final Fantasy VI was composed by regular series composer Nobuo Uematsu. The Final Fantasy VI Original Sound Version, a compilation of all the music in the game, was released in Japan by NTT Publishing in 1994 and re-released by Square Enix in 2004. A special orchestral arrangement of selected tracks from the game, arranged by Shiro Sagisu and Tsuneyoshi Saito and performed by the Milan Symphony Orchestra, was released under the title Final Fantasy VI Grand Finale by NTT Publishing in 1994 and 2004, and a collection of piano arrangements, arranged by Shirou Satou and performed by Reiko Nomura, was released under the title Piano Collections Final Fantasy VI by Square/NTT Publishing in 1994 and by NTT Publishing in 2001. Final Fantasy V (ファイナルファンタジーV Fainaru Fantajī Faibu?) is a console role-playing game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) in 1992 as a part of the Final Fantasy series. The game first appeared only in Japan on Nintendo’s Super Famicom (known internationally as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System). It has been ported with minor differences to Sony’s PlayStation and the Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance. An original video animation produced in 1994 called Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals serves as a sequel to the events depicted in the game.

The game begins as a wanderer named Bartz investigates a fallen meteor. There, he encounters several characters who reveal the danger facing the four Crystals that control the world’s elements. These Crystals act as a seal on Exdeath, an evil sorcerer who once threatened their world. Bartz and his party must keep the Crystals from being exploited by Exdeath’s influence and prevent his resurgence.

Final Fantasy V has been praised for the freedom of customization that the player has over the characters, achieved through the greatly expanded Job System. Despite the lack of an early release in territories other than Japan, the Super Famicom version sold more than two million copies. The PlayStation version has earned “Greatest Hits” status, selling more than 350,000 copies.

The music of the video game Final Fantasy V was composed by regular series composer Nobuo Uematsu. The Final Fantasy V Original Sound Version, a compilation of almost all of the music in the game, was released by Square Co./NTT Publishing, and subsequently re-released by NTT Publishing after the game was brought to North America as part of the Final Fantasy Anthology. An arranged album entitled Final Fantasy V Dear Friends, containing a selection of musical tracks from the game arranged in multiple styles, including live and vocal versions, was released by Square/NTT Publishing and later re-released by NTT Publishing. Additionally, a collection of piano arrangements composed by Nobuo Uematsu, arranged by Shirou Satou and played by Toshiyuki Mori titled Piano Collections Final Fantasy V was released by Square/NTT Publishing, and re-released by NTT Publishing.

The music received mixed reviews; while some reviewers enjoyed the soundtrack and found it to be underrated, others felt it was only of middling quality. Several songs, especially “Dear Friends”, remain popular today, and have been performed numerous times in orchestral concert series such as the Dear Friends: Music from Final Fantasy concert series, named after the Final Fantasy V song, and the Orchestral Game Concert series. Final Fantasy IV (ファイナルファンタジーIV Fainaru Fantajī Fō) is a console role-playing game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) in 1991 as a part of the Final Fantasy series. The game was originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, but has been ported by TOSE with minor differences to the Sony’s PlayStation, Bandai’s WonderSwan Color, and Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance. In May 2007, Square Enix announced that it was developing a remake of the game for the Nintendo DS. The game was originally titled “Final Fantasy II” during its initial release in North America, but later localizations used the original title.

The player takes the role of Cecil, a Dark Knight from the kingdom of Baron, on his journey to save the world from the evil Golbez. Struggling to prevent Golbez from acquiring powerful Crystals, Cecil learns of his heritage and travels through three realms to battle Golbez’s minions. His lover, best friend, and other warriors join him for the adventure.

Final Fantasy IV introduced innovations that became staples of the Final Fantasy series and role-playing games in general. Its “Active Time Battle” system was used in six subsequent Final Fantasy games. Its character-driven plot, use of the new technologies (such as Mode 7) and critically acclaimed score by Nobuo Uematsu have prompted critics to consider Final Fantasy IV one of the greatest games of all time.

Music

The music of the video game Final Fantasy IV was composed by regular series composer Nobuo Uematsu. The Final Fantasy IV Original Sound Version, a compilation of almost all of the music in the game, was released by Square Co./NTT Publishing, and subsequently re-released by NTT Publishing. It was released in North America by Tokyopop as Final Fantasy IV Official Soundtrack: Music from Final Fantasy Chronicles, with one additional track. It has since been re-released multiple times with slight changes as part of the Final Fantasy Finest Box and as Final Fantasy IV DS OST. Additionally, a collection of piano arrangements composed by Nobuo Uematsu and played by Toshiyuki Mori titled Piano Collections Final Fantasy IV was released by NTT Publishing.

The music was overall well received; reviewers have praised the quality of the original composition despite the limited medium, and reacted favorably to the arranged soundtracks. Several songs, especially “Theme of Love”, remain popular today, and have been performed numerous times in orchestral concert series, as well as been published in arranged and compilation albums by Square as well as outside groups.
